UNDER SURFACE

We are used to thinking upwards. You walk into your home, place the keys on the table, grab a little bite from the fridge, a short conversation that grows long and then go up. Up to the bedrooms floor. Should it always have to be this way? No, not always.

This project spreads mostly on the ground floor. Instead of going up, we go down, under surface. There, downstairs, the interesting situations come to life.

A wide and spacious patio functions as the house main square and grants the floor plenty of natural light. The house’s garden spreads along the patio, creating pleasant open spaces for the residents to enjoy. The garden is also a joint feature that connects the nearby house that belongs to other family members.

The under surface space belongs to the younger members of the family. It is an autonomy, able to fulfill all their needs. Their own private kingdom.
